Domino People Stair Climber: Start With the Person and the Route
If you are looking at a stair climber for wheelchair access, the first question is whether it fits the person, the chair and the stairs. The person helping also needs to be part of that plan.
Watch Domino People Stairclimber Training (20 minutes, 41 seconds). This Thrive for Life video was published in January 2025.
Use the video to prepare questions for your provider. Before using a stair climber, get the current instructions for the exact device and practical training from a qualified provider. Watching a video alone does not replace that training.
Questions to settle before use
- Which exact model and accessories are being considered?
- Does it work with the person’s actual wheelchair?
- Has the full route, including stairs and landings, been assessed?
- Who will help, and can that person complete the required training?
- What are the current use limits, checks and service requirements?
- What is the plan if the device is unavailable or stops working?
Keep the model names clear
The manufacturer has several products with Domino in the name. Ask for the documentation for the exact Domino People device. Do not use instructions or load limits from a goods carrier with a similar name.
The manufacturer’s current Domino People page describes the People Stabilized model. Do not assume that a current product page and an older video show the same version. Your provider should confirm the exact model and instructions for your equipment.
Compare the whole access plan
A stair climber is one option to assess. A ramp, a lift or using another entrance may fit a different household better. Consider how often the route is needed, who is available to help, and what will work over time.
Thrive for Life can help you review the access need before choosing equipment. Start with a plan, not a product.
